Responsibilities

As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at Light Street Special Education Solutions, a division of LEARN Academy, you play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of comprehensive special education services to children with special needs. Working under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, you collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement evidence-based interventions that promote students' participation and success in their educational environment.

 

Your responsibilities span across various school settings, interacting with teachers, administrators, parents, and other therapy professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student care. You assist in evaluating students' needs, developing and implementing treatment plans, and monitoring progress towards individualized education program (IEP) goals.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Providing direct therapy services to students, focusing on improving their functional abilities in areas such as fine motor skills, sensory processing, and activities of daily living.
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers to integrate occupational therapy strategies into the educational curriculum.
  • Assisting in the adaptation of learning environments and materials to enhance student participation and independence.
  • Contributing to the IEP process by providing insights on student progress and recommending appropriate interventions.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of student assessments, interventions, and progress.
  • Participating in team meetings and professional development activities to stay current with best practices in school-based occupational therapy.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degreet in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program 
  • Maintain AZ COTA license requirements
  • Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint card
